#PetBox Delivers Fun Gifts for your Pet

Who doesn't like getting mail? Especially when it's cool treats and toys just for you...from PetBox!

I have never purchased a monthly subscription service for dog lovers before, mainly because of lack of information--what was in the boxes? How often would they arrive? Would my dogs like them? So when I was contacted to receive a free PetBox (in exchange for my honest review), I was excited to see what was what. (Keep reading for your chance to win one of your own!) Here's what came in the mail:

The PetBox arrived in a sturdy cardboard box that was attractive and easy to open. Kelly and Ike couldn't wait to check out the contents.

What is PetBox?
PetBox is a monthly delivery service that introduces its members to fun and healthy new pet products every month. But there's more!

How is PetBox different?
You can actually pick your own products and supplies that are most appealing to you and your furry friends. You will choose from a wide variety of quality and premium offerings. Or, go the traditional route and opt for a Surprise Box.

We got a Surprise Box, and we found 8 great items inside:

Aussie Naturals Duck Toy- made of suede, sturdy Jute fabric and high tensile strength Jutey Cotton rope. The body is filled with coconut fiber. Kelly is a strong chewer, and this toy is perfect for her! The suede will be a challenge for her razor sharp teeth!

NoviPet Omega 3 and 6- I've been learning a lot about vitamins for dogs and Omegas seem to be recommended by many pet parents and veterinarians. We have been giving Ike a fish oil pill for his itchy skin. Omega 3 & 6 may also help his skin and coat.

Earth Heart Canine Calm Natural Remedy Mist –Dealing with rescue dogs, we are often faced with dogs who have been in difficult situations, or have been through many transitions, and this holistic spray, which can be sprayed on the dog's coat or bedding, could very well help through the rough spots.

Clear Conscience Sliders Tender Chicken and Cheddar Recipe Dog Treats – healthy treats with organic flax and vegetables, all natural, no grain or gluten or glycerin.

Clear Conscience Sliders Tender Stikz- Hollistic dog jerky with beef as the main ingredient. Made in the USA.

The Honest Kitchen Smooches – Chicken and cranberry treats. Hand baked, wheat free and only 2.3 calories per smooch! I know how other dog bloggers rave about Honest Kitchen, and I'm excited that their treats are included.

Healthy Dogma Pumpkin ginger flavor Barkers –Low fat tiny treats, great for training rewards. I love the little "to go cup" in which they're packaged!

KeepDoggieSafe.com Pet Rescue Decal - window decal intended for use in case of fire or other emergency to notify emergency workers that there are pets inside your house that need to be rescued.

The retail value of the PetBox is $60. Subscriptions normally start at $29 per month. And, PetBox is donating 100% of proceeds from December to pet shelters!

How can you save money?
If you order your PetBox now, use this great 10% Discount Code exclusive for Peggy's Pet Place readers!  BPPEGGY10

Will there be anything new for 2014?

Great Giveaway Week #3- I and Love and You

It's not just "I love you."
It's "I and love and you."

I and Love and You is a company offering a wide variety of natural products, pet food, supplements and vitamins. Founder, Brendan Synnott  is also the co-founder of Bear Naked Granola.

This is one cool company. They have an open, friendly attitude. "When we started "I and love and you" about a year ago, we set out to make it easier for pet parents to take care of their pets' entire health and well-being," wrote Lindsay, who introduced me to the company and products. She added that their raw dog food--which is grain free, with no GMOs, is very popular as well.

I told Lindsay that I'd never given my dogs supplements or vitamins, because I didn't understand what the ingredients were. She told me that they appreciated my concern over ingredients in supplements and remedies--"That's actually one of the reasons we started "I and love and you." Brendan wanted the same quality ingredients he buys for his human family to go to his pet family!"

I and love and you sent me some treats and supplements to sample.

Also, I wondered what is homeopathy?

“Homeopathy is a natural, holistic system for healing that works by eliminating the underlying imbalance in a pet’s body that is causing unwanted symptoms. Homeopathy uses the principle of the “minimum dose.” Homeopathic remedies are made from natural substances such as plants and minerals that are highly diluted and shaken, which eliminates any toxic effects of the natural substance. It is literally impossible to overdose with a homeopathic formula, and they are generally safe for use with other remedies or medicines.”

Here's a few things I learned:
 * Nutritional supplements are produced in FDA registered, human-grade facilities
*Food is produced in USDA inspected facilities
 * Food and treats are never, ever made in China. Nearly everything comes from the USA.
 * Foods and treats use human-quality ingredients, never by-products or rendered meat
 * No Artificial preservatives, artificial colors or artificial flavorings
 * No additives or fillers
 * No corn, soy, by-products or un-named meats

I and love and you products include dry kibble, raw food and raw freeze dried food for dogs, chews and treats, daily supplements and natural remedies for cats and dogs. We sampled some delicious treats, Super Power Powder and My skin's Itchy.

Super power powder™ is a daily multivitamin for dogs.

It includes a mineral and multivitamin blend that benefits digestion, joints, skin and coat. Click here to check out the Ingredients.
I tried Super Power Powder with Kelly and Ike by sprinkling a scoop on their food. I started with a small amount at first and increased gradually. Both Kelly and Ike ate the multivitamin powder with no problems. I've only been using it for a short time, so it's difficult to tell yet if the vitamins have contributed to improved health, muscle tone, or vigor.

Among the I and love and you natural remedies:
My Joints Ache
My Darn Aller Geez
My Tummy Hurts
My Skin's Itchy
My Nerves are Stresssed
My Sparkly Smile
My Sparkly Ears
Paw Armor

Since Ike has allergies, we tried My Skin's Itchy™ homeopathic remedy.

Check out the Ingredients.
I mixed a few droppers full with Ike's food. It did seem that his itchiness improved. We changed seasons and had a frost, so that may have contributed to the improvement as well. But Ike seems more comfortable and less itchy! And both dogs absolutely loved the treats and bully sticks!

Now you can win some I and Love and You products for your pets! Enter the Rafflecopter below!

Full Disclosure: I received one Super Power Powder, one My Skin's Itchy, and one bag of treats and two bully sticks to review and a gift pack to give away. This in no way influenced my review. The opinions here are 100% my own.

Gingerbread Treats, A Bag of Chews, and a Dog TREAT giveaway!

I ended up with so many different great dog treats to review, I decided to put them together in one super post so that you can check them all out at once. You might even want to pick up some of these for gift giving this year. I must say Kelly and Ike have had fun taste testing!

Wait, why are the treats behind us?

1. Holiday Buddy Biscuits
Cloud Star is one of my absolute favorite dog treat companies, and their products are reliably great. In fact Buddy Biscuits are so awesome, I kind of wish I was a dog! Especially now that the new Gingerbread flavored Holiday Buddy Biscuits are here. yummmm!
When you and your family are making gingerbread men for the holidays, now your furry friend can share in the yumminess. They're even shaped like little ginger-kids. And of course, they're
*Made in the USA
*all natural ingredients  -- wheat flour, rolled oats, blackstrap molasses, natural gingerbread flavor, and canola oil!

I really enjoyed giving my dogs these treats. It felt like sharing a bit of the holiday spirit with them. They loved the flavor, I think especially because it's different and something they don't usually get. And those little gingerbread people shapes are tooooo cute!

Want some for your dogs?
Cloud Star has generously offered this promo code for 50% off to Peggy's Pet Place readers! This coupon expires Friday 12/6 so hurry!!

Available in oven baked, soft and chewy or XXL gingerbread man for a special holiday treat.

2.   Merrick Hungry Dog Natural Treats and Chews

Thanks to Chewy.com, we're always being introduced to new treats for Kelly and Ike. This month they sent us a great product to review: Merrick's Hungry Dog Natural Treats and Chews. First thing to check, Is it made in the USA? Yup, check!

When I opened it and looked inside--gah! I wasn't sure what all was in there. Snouts, ears, bones, you name it! This 2 lb bag is filled with treats that are slightly misshapen or undersized...but made of the same quality ingredients. Kelly and Ike don't care what their treats look like, and I get a good value. I was thrilled with the size and variety, with two big hearty bones that the dogs will take time to get through. The dogs love to chew and it is great to know that this is a product I can trust.  My dogs love these treats and I love having some safe chews for them.

Treats, please!

3. My Dog Ate It

We were asked if we'd like to review these treats, and we thought it was a different idea. The focus is on pet treats with a sense of humor.

My Dog Ate It look like ordinary milk bone type biscuits, wrapped with a piece of paper with an ingredient on it, something that your dog might have eaten. The bag states "This one's funny. That one's gross."

Feeding instructions say "Pull a biscuit out of the bag, read the "flavor," tear off the label and feed it to your best friend." The packaging assures us that the label is completely nontoxic should your dog happen to get at it. If you are looking for a funny gift or a once in a while treat, this might be it. Just know that the ingredients are not premium. The first four ingredients are wheat flour, wheat bran, beef and bone meal, and chicken fat. There appears to be artificial flavors and colors.

Now for the giveaway!!

PRIZE:  4 winners will each receive two bags of My Dog Ate It treats each!
To Enter: Simply Leave A Comment below stating one unusual thing your dog ate! Winner chosen at random. Contest open in US only. Entries close12/10/13. Good luck!

*FULL DISCLOSURE: I was provided with the following treats to review: 1 box, 1 bag and one xxl Holiday Buddy Biscuits by Cloud Star. Chewy.com provided me with one bag of Merrick Chews. And My Dog Ate it provided me with 4 bags of dog biscuits to review and 8 bags to give away.  This in no way influenced my reviews. The opinions expressed are 100% my own.

Zippy Zany Zuke's & Biggggg Giveaway

I love giving Kelly and Ike treats, but I don't want to give out too many that may be fattening or unhealthy. So I choose treats carefully. That's why I'm especially excited to be participating in Zuke's Fuel the Love campaign! First, they sent us a huge variety of wonderful treats to review. And second, we can share the love, because they're providing a huge variety of treats to give away in the contest below!

So first of all, I did my research, and Zuke's is a company I can get behind.
*The food was created to fill a need for natural, healthy pet food and inspired by the founder's dog Zuke!
*The company's values are staying healthy and being active, and showing devotion to dogs for all the devotion they show us! Perfect for K9Kamp, FitDog Friday and just the way I feel about dogs too.

Zuke's treats are:

*Healthy enough to dish out on a daily basis
*Made in the USA
*Made from carefully sourced ingredients and high-‐quality, USDA-‐approved proteins.
* contain antioxidants
*and Zuke’s has never been involved with a recall!

I've got LOTS of great Zukes to give away.
Here are the reviews:

1. Zuke's Mini Naturals
I use these a LOT because they are just the right size, so I don't feel too bad about giving them out as rewards and training treats. (only 3 1/2 calories per treat!) Ingredients inclued cherries, rosemary, and turmeric--powerful, wholefood sources of antioxidants. They come in great flavors too-Roasted Chicken, Savory Salmon, Fresh Peanut Butter and Wild Rabbit!

2. Zuke's Z-filets
Dogs love jerky treats- but after recent health incidents, we have to be extremely careful about feeding these to our dogs. Fortunately, Zukes healthy grain -free filets are made in the USA, and all the meat comes from safe, trustworthy sources in the U.S. or New Zealand, so I feel confident

3.  Zuke's Skinny Bakes
These are Kelly and Ike's favorites! They're crunchy baked treats. Each one contains only 10 calories, so we don't have to worry about putting on a little extra weight just because they indulge in a few extra yummy treats. They're also vegan, made with clean ingredients such as berries, pumpkin and peanut butter. They're also wheat, corn and soy free- ingredients which are the cause of many allergies.

4. Zuke's Hip Action
These are good for both dogs, as Kelly is a senior and Ike is an active, larger breed, and they both could use the healthiest bones and joints possible.  The treats are made with 300mg of Glucosamine, 50mg of Chondroitin, and natural eggshell membrane. This way I can give Kelly and Ike these benefits without having to give them pills. And Zukes Hip Action treats are safe, even if Kelly and Ike somehow ate the entire bag. Which is possible, since they come in chicken, beef and peanut butter flavors!

Okay, so now for the giveaway! I've got 5 great prizes you can win!

1st place-
A fantastic gift pack consisting 8 bags of Zuke wholesome, delicious treats! Includes 2 bags Skinny Bakes, 2 bags mini naturals, 2 bags hip action and 2 bags Z-filets!

2nd place-
Great selection of 4 bags of Zukes treats:1 bag each of Skinny Bakes, mini naturals, hip action and Z-filets

3rd, 4th and 5th places-
1 bag Zuke's mini naturals

a Rafflecopter giveaway

Be sure to check out the Fuel the Love Blog Hop Nov. 15 - Dec. 1st
and Fuel the Love Twitter Party on November 29th for more great prizes!

Full Disclosure: I was provided with 15 bags of Zukes products for my fair review, and an equal number to give away. This in no way influenced my review. The opinions expressed are 100% my own.

True Chews

Kelly loves jerky treats, but today we have to careful about where they come from and their ingredients. So we were excited when Chewy.com invited us to sample True Chews 100% natural premium jerky cuts, made with real chicken. We felt confident in these treats because they are offered by Chewy.com. and because they're made in the U.S.A. True Chews first ingredient is chicken.

Kelly loved these treats! They're larger than the average treat, and provided her a little extra chew time. We highly recommend True Chews!  "Nothing fancy, just natural, fresh, healthy chews for your dog."

Tasty Tuesday- Fromm Treats

Chewy asked us if we'd like to review some treats by Fromm...well woof yes! Kelly chose Fromm Grain Free Liver Treats.

Some reasons why we like these Fromm treats:

*Made in the USA- important for product quality and safety

*1 calorie per treat--good for keeping our trim figures

*There are only four ingredients in these treats, and I've heard of them all! Wheat flour, fresh chicken livers, salt, garlic powder

Kelly likes most food and treats, but I can say that she was CRAZY over these! She could barely wait through the obligatory photo session.

We give Fromm Liver Treats a 5 WAG rating! Check them out at Chewy.com.

*Chewy.com supplied us with one bag of Fromm Liver treats in exchange for our honest review. The opinions here are 100% my own.

Wednesday Pet Roundup- May 1, 2013

Hi and welcome to Wednesday Pet Roundup. Here are your links for today.

*What does your dog's breed say about you? According to the feature on Fox News, those who enjoy yorkies and pugs are intelligent and creative. Golden retriever people are laid back and agreeable. I can't  find the right combination that is Kelly, so I'll just say it shows I'm open minded!

* How often do I get to write a headline like this one, from msn Now: Watch a Roomba-riding cat in a shark suit chase a duck. Apparently Roomba-riding is catching on with the feline crowd.

* Okay, it's not really a pet, but this is kind of unusual. A woman got up close and personal with....a tiger! A Kansas woman watching the Isis Shrine Circus visited the restroom, closed the door, and came face to face with an escaped tiger!

* We've had some fun giveaways on the blog lately. The winner of the Dynamo Dog Variety pack is Amanda. Thank you to everyone who entered. If you didn't win these treats, you're sure to love Pawsitively Homemade's dog cookies. Enter until 5/6/13.
