* Moose may not be a concern where you live, but in Pagosa Springs, Colorado several people have become injured by wild moose this year. An article in the Pagosa Springs Daily News entitled "Dog and Moose" describes how dogs have spooked moos,e which then have cause injury to the dogs' owners. I like the advice offered in the article: "If the moose charges you, run away as fast as possible..."

Wednesday Pet Roundup- September 4

Hi and welcome to Wednesday Pet Roundup! Because there are so many great tips, news, and giveaways, I was running out of days of the week. So for now, I'm trying Wednesday Pet roundup once a month, instead of every week. I'll check back in a while see if you think it's working. So for this month, here are our links!

* How cool is this? At the end of the swimming pool season, some pools are hosting a special swim day for dogs!

* And speaking of swimming--two cats swam to safety after tuna boat exploded. I'm not making this up.

* Going off to college brings on many worries...and could one of them be bed bugs? A recent college campus had to close down a dorm due to bed bugs. But MiteBuster came to the rescue, using dogs trained to detect bed bugs!

Wednesday Pet Roundup- 5-16-13

Hi and welcome to Wednesday Pet Roundup! This is my mother-in-law's neighbor's dog who always greets us when we stop by to visit. Hello!!

* The American Heart Association released a statement claiming that owning a dog is linked to reduced risk of heart disease. Just one of the many perks!

* From Philly.com, two Labradors and a springer spaniel dogs are trained to detect ovarian cancer. Dogs detecting cancer is not new--other dogs can detect lung, bladder and breast cancer.

* And Fox news reports that dogs are being used to detect earthquakes in China.

* Steve Dale reports on an Illinois proposed lemon law for pets sold at pet stores.
